Polessky district is an area in the northwest of the Kiev region

For the first time in the history of Poles'ya mentioned in chronicles in 1274.

Polesskii district is located in north-western part of the Kiev region. Founded in 1923. The district borders with Ivankovsky area to the south, Zhitomir region - in the west, the Gomel region (Belarus) - in the north, with the former Chernobyl area - in the east

Since the founding of the district in 1923 it was the center of town Habno. In the archival documents ( "Records of the history of western Russia, Volume I) is first mentioned in 1415.

During the Lithuanian rule belonged Ovrutska County. Since 1793 the village became part of Habno Radomyshlsky County Kiev province. Since the early 19 th century belonged to Prince Radziwill, and since 1850 - the landlords Horvath.

In 1900, Habno were 423 yard, 1,715 people lived in the town worked for 2 distilleries, 3 brick factories, 8 forges, a steam mill.

After the October Revolution in mid-February 1918 in Habno founded the Revolutionary Committee, who confiscated the land from the landlords and other property and gave it to poor peasants. 1918 The Soviet government was interrupted by German occupation. In connection with the administrative reform Habno in 1923 became the center area of the same name. The first farm in Habno was founded in 1929, and in 1930-1931 - three collective farms. Start 30-ies - is the period of mass collectivization. Famine of 1932-1933, this is not the consequences of a disaster, and artificially created by the tragedy of the Ukrainian people. In 1934, the city was renamed Habno Kaganovich first. In the years before the war n "yatirichok Habno was built in a woodworking factory, a creamery. Production is also a brick factory, promarteli. 1938 Habno classed as urban villages. By the time the collective farms area has 57 tractors, 61 motor vehicle.

Treacherous attack invaders June 22, 1941 the Soviet Union broke off the peace work. August 23, 1941 the Nazis seized Habno. From the first days of occupation in the area operated underground regional committee of the party. In the village acted patriotic underground group, led by physician Communist Athanasius P. Sirosh. In 1941-1943 in the forests of Polesie region guerrilla group and Rozvazhivsky partisan detachment. In the spring of 1943 Polesie came from a combination of partisan SA Kovpaka.

November 15, 1943 units of 143-I 12 Infantry Division of the Army, I-Second Ukrainian Front and the 336 Infantry Division liberated the area. Total during the occupation of the area the Germans were shot more than a thousand civilians. According to incomplete data the Germans were driven to hard labor in Germany about 4 thousand inhabitants of Habno and surrounding villages. Nearly 10 thousand people from the area who fought on different fronts of the Great Patriotic War, 4338 died in battles with the enemy and missing. 3281 war veteran awarded orders and medals. Four of them were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

Thanks to the selfless labor of workers in 1944 began to produce products furniture factory, brickyard, promarteli. Rehabilitated MTS and creamery. In the area reopened the central regional hospital, public schools, clubs and libraries.

November 1, 1957 decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR Kaganovitsky district was renamed the Polesie district and regional center of urban-type settlement Kaganovich First on pgt - Polesskoe.

The accident at Chernobyl in 1986 brought about changes in the livelihoods of the region. 28 thousand people from 31 settlement, including the Polesskoe smt and smt Vilcha fully resettled, and the territory of these settlements placed under the Administration of the Exclusion Zone.

As a result of the accident and therefore the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 23.07.1991 years № 106, Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 12.01.1993 years № 17-p 2 localities classified as Zone III secure voluntary resettlement, 29 settlements - IV zone enhanced radiological control.

The main direction of agricultural production to date in the area determine the meat and dairy farming, grain production. Agriculture has suffered significant changes. Reduced livestock, cattle, including dairy herd, eliminated the production of flax and hop.

Finally, the Decree of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from 10.07.1996 years № 204 "About transfer of the center of the Polesie region of Kyiv oblast with. Krasiatychi" put an end to the administrative building in the area.
