In particular, the protesters were against the changes in legislation abolishing the need for public hearings for developments. According to them, if signed by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich this law citizens can not defend its territory from development.
Verkhovna Rada (VR) 13 January adopted a government bill on the regulation of urban planning (to reduce the licensing procedures in construction) »(№ 7418 from December 2, 2010) providing for simplification of licensing procedures for construction. For the adoption of the law voted 246 out of 398 deputies registered in the session hall of the parliament.
