Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said on the need to allocate in 2009 from the state budget UAH 1 billion to build bridges in Kiev. "If the budget next year, we did not distinguish, at least UAH 1 billion, we are up to 2011, these objects do not introduce" - the president said at a press conference in Kiev on Wednesday.

He noted that estimates of the construction of bridges across the Dnieper River in Kiev, originally amounted to 1.9 billion USD, increased due to rise in price of construction materials.

"The cost of construction requires a review. According to experts, the bridges will cost 4.8 billion, perhaps 5.2 billion UAH", - said Victor Yushchenko.

The President promised his part to make every effort to increase funding for these facilities for an additional 80-90 million USD in November-December 2008.

According to the project construction in Zaporizhzhya envisaged construction of two bridges: cable-stayed across the Dnieper River 660 m long and arched metal bridge across the River Dnepr Old length 340 m.

In 2008, the construction of facilities in the state budget provided 350 million USD, funded by 84,3% of the planned amount.
