The government of Ukraine predicts growth in 2009, gross value added of the construction of up to 3,8%

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine predicts growth of gross value added of construction in the country in 2009 to 3,8%, while in 2008 it was 0,1%, in annexes to the draft state program on socio-economic development of Ukraine for 2009 god.Soglasno document, the predicted gross value added of construction in 2009 will be 53 billion USD, while the planned figure for 2008 was 39.9 billion USD (2007 - 31,8 billion USD).

In this case, the gross value added of construction in 2009 will be 4.2% of GDP, whereas in 2008 this figure will be 4%.

According to the annex to the draft program, increased demand for construction work next year will contribute, on the one hand, the growth in housing due to rising incomes and increased savings in the slowing of inflation, on the other - to activate the construction of transport infrastructure, institutions, trade, hotels and sports facilities, including in connection with the organization and holding of finals of the 2012 European Cup.

At the same time limiting factor for the development of construction will be a substantial increase in the cost of building materials, primarily cement in the cost of which occupies a significant proportion of gas.
