May 18, 2010 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a new Law of Ukraine "On prevention and counteraction to legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime or financing of terrorism" aimed at implementing the requirements and provisions of the 1940 recommendations of the Group of Financial Action against Money Laundering laundering (FATF), which were approved at the Berlin meeting of the group in June 2003, to implement Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and Combating the Financing of Terrorism and the European Parliament and Council on preventing the use of the financial system for money laundering to finance terrorism.
