The title of the "green" capital of Europe in the competition won a leading city in Denmark - Copenhagen. Jury members of the European Commission impressed measures taken by the Danish capital : increasing the number of cyclists , reducing the amount emitted into the atmosphere of carbon dioxide , as well as the expansion of green areas in the city - parks and gardens , reports The Copenhagen Post.
European Commissioner for Environment Janez Potocnik congratulated the authorities of Copenhagen with rewards and added that all other cities worth taking a cue from the capital of Denmark.
