The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading a government bill on strengthening the requirements of the laws of Ukraine aimed at creating unhindered access for persons with disabilities to buildings and structures. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Regional Development.
"The bill introduces effective control and increases the responsibility for non-compliance with accessibility requirements for people with disabilities to buildings and structures. After all, today a lot of buildings and structures are not adapted to the needs of people with disabilities, even those that are only being built, "said Lev Partskhaladze, deputy minister for regional development, construction and housing and communal services of Ukraine.
According to the bill, fines for violation of legislation are raised in the planning and construction of territories, including, and to create unhindered access for persons with disabilities.
In addition, it is expected that public associations of people with disabilities will monitor compliance with building codes, standards and rules on accessibility for the low-mobility population groups as freelance inspectors under the state architectural and construction control bodies.
Earlier it was reported that the participants of the ATU will be given the first-priority right to land.
